A team of University of Virginia medical students, neurology
residents, and faculty in neurology and biomedical engineering are working on a
project aimed to develop algorithms to automate detection of neurologic
deficits in patients with stroke. They have a multiple positions available for
students interested in helping with various aspects of clinical research.
Clinical Research Assistant
This is a volunteer position that allows you to work
directly with patients. As a clinical research assistant, you will be primarily
responsible for data collection from patients and controls. Training will be
provided on various aspects of clinical work such as interviewing and
performing screens. Opportunities to work towards publications / grant writing
are also possible. Several positions available. Time commitment can vary but students will be expected to commit at least 4-6 hours per week.
Research Coordinator
As a research coordinator you will help manage the daily
operations of a large scale research project, participate in data
collection/processing, grant writing, and have the opportunity to work towards
publications. This is a paid position with a minimum requirement of 15 hours
per work. The ideal candidate is a
recent graduate doing a bridge year or undergraduate student taking classes
"part-time". They are seeking at
least a 6-month commitment (longer if desired) and availability primarily
Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM with a flexible schedule to accommodate classes or
other commitments.
