Harvard Summer Research Program in Kidney Medicine


Program Dates: June 1st – August 1st

The program provides eight weeks of experience and participation in kidney research. Students participating in the program will conduct research under the direction of a primary investigator. Participants will have the opportunity to interact not only with the faculty member directing the research, but also with the graduate students and/or postdoctoral fellows working at the site. Frequent meetings with other program participants along with one or more of the faculty sponsors will be scheduled as well as weekly seminars, workshops, and lectures. At the end of the eight week period, program students will have the opportunity to present their work session at a National symposium at Emory University.  Students will receive a $1000 stipend for the summer and Complimentary Campus styled housing will be provided near the Longwood Medical in Boston area.
The program welcomes applicants from undergraduate college students that meet the following criteria at the time of application:
  • Currently enrolled in a undergraduate degree granting program
  • Currently a US citizen or permanent resident (international students are not eligible)
  • Must agree to complete full 8 weeks
Admission will be based on the applicant’s academic record, including prior research, personal statement and 2 letters of recommendation from the applicant’s faculty advisor or research supervisor. Intent to pursue a Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. degree and prior research experience are desirable, but not required.
