Sports Medicine Volunteer Program

Sports Medicine Volunteer Program

The primary function of the University of Virginia Sports Medicine Department is to provide encompassing healthcare for our student-athletes that include prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries as well as emergency care during practice and games.
Although the University of Virginia does not offer an undergraduate degree program in athletic training, student volunteers are a very important part of the sports medicine department.
We offer volunteer positions for students who are interested in athletic training, physical therapy, medicine, or other allied health professions.

There will be an informational meeting at the end of the fall semester and at the end of the spring semester for students interested in becoming a student volunteer. Rising first year students interested in the program for the fall semester should call the athletic training room at (434)243-2423 to speak with Shelley Blakey prior to August 1st. Students that volunteer are expected to commit for the entire semester.

See the website for more information and click here to apply by Thursday, December 4th.
