Johns Hopkins Summer Undergraduate Research Assistant Position

Johns Hopkins University Department of Neurology is seeking an undergraduate Research Assistant to help execute one or more research studies aimed at identifying biomarkers for Parkinson disease and related disorders. The undergraduate Research Assistant will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and Study Coordinators to help prepare for and conduct research study visits.

Location: Johns Hopkins Green Spring Station Campus, Lutherville, MD
Duration: June 2018 - August 2018
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Hourly Rate: $12.00 - $16.00 (determined based on education level and experience)

Job Duties
  • Administer 10-minute neuropsychological test
  • Process biological specimens, including blood, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid
  • Enter data into electronic database(s)
  • Organize and file participant records
  • Prepare and maintain study materials
  • Manage and update inventories of biological specimens
Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Related experience preferred
Successful applicants will be personable, detail-oriented, well organized, and dedicated to helping patients with diverse needs. Prospective applicants must demonstrate excellent time management skills by effectively prioritizing and working on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines. Applicants must also have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of the larger research team.

Please note
This position is located on a satellite campus of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in a northern suburb of Baltimore city. There is currently no shuttle service to this location from the other campuses, nor are there any public transportation options available that accomodate the position's working hours. Therefore, the candidate will need to have reliable access to a car for daily commuting to and from the Green Spring Station campus.
