What is an externship?
It's a job shadowing opportunity that can last anywhere from 3 to 7 days. It allows you to gain personal exposure to a career field and can serve as the gateway to a new professional experience. Some externships even allow you to gain introductory skills required for a particular industry or job function.
The Career IDEAS Externship Program connects students with meaningful externship opportunities in J-Term and during the summer months. You can apply to the program via Handshake.
The program is open to all students, but priority will be given to those who have not had an externship or internship experience. The following groups are especially encouraged to apply:
2nd and 3rd years who are first-generation college students and part of underrepresented populations.
