VA Department of Health Professions Internship

Virginia Department of Health Professions (DHP) internships provide an opportunity to work side-by-side with incredibly knowledgeable staff in an environment devoted to protecting the public. DHP consists of over 240 licensing/discipline specialists, investigators, inspectors, legal/administrative professionals working in its headquarters in Henrico, VA and throughout the state.

DHP is currently seeking three summer interns:
  1. Graduate nursing student, or undergraduate criminal justice or communications major to work with Board of Nursing. 
  2. College student (any major) to work with Healthcare Workforce Data Center
  3. A college student (any major) to work with the Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers, Longer Term Care Administrators, and Physical Therapy.
Eligibility: The Summer Internship Program is for undergraduate, graduate, or professional students enrolled at an accredited university who are at least eighteen years of age at the time they begin the program. Candidates must be either U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Stipend: This is a paid internship, with participants working approximately 30 hours per week earning $10.00 per hour.

Application Procedure: Prospective candidates must submit a complete application packet by Friday, May 15th, 2015 and submit to Jason Brown, Deputy Director for Administration. A complete application packet includes:
  • curriculum vitae or resume
  • summer internship application
  • cover letter describing the applicant's interests and career goals
  • names and contact information for two references
