Undergraduate Research Opportunity - UVA Medical School Dept of Pathology

The lab of Dr. C John Luckey MD PHD in the UVA Medical School Department of Pathology is interested in recruiting undergraduate researchers who are serious about doing medically relevant basic scientific research. The Luckey Lab works on understanding how cytokines regulate immune responses to foreign cells. Research in the lab is generally focused on understanding how cytokine signals drive immune memory, with a specific interest in the molecular mechanisms by which external signaling events become translated into the genetic programs required for the self-renewal of memory T and B cells. The lab is interested in understanding how cytokines impact patient health, and employs several different mouse models of human immune disease. The ideal candidate is one who is 1) comfortable with working with mice and embryonic stem cells, 2) interested ultimately in pursuing a PhD, MD or MD PhD degree, 2) eager to take on real responsibility for a given experiment, and 3) willing to put in the work required to ensure its successful completion. Candidates will work directly alongside post-doctoral fellows in the lab and under the direct supervision of Dr. Luckey.
Interested candidates should send a CV to cjl4y@virginia.edu.
