Research Technician Position - UVA Immunology / Transfusion Medicine Lab


The Department of Pathology at the University of Virginia is seeking a Laboratory and Research Technician 2 to work in the Immunology/Transfusion Medicine lab of Dr. C John Luckey, MD PhD. This is an ideal position for a recent college graduate interested in ultimately pursuing a PhD, MD, or MD PhD degree; and who is interested in performing both scientifically interesting and clinically relevant research prior to graduate/medical school. Having recently relocated from Harvard Medical School, the Luckey Lab works on understanding how cytokines regulate immune responses to foreign cells.

The candidate will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Luckey, and will assist post-doctoral fellows in the lab, uncovering the basic molecular and cellular mechanisms by which cytokine signaling drives immune dysfunction in mouse models of human disease. 

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related science by the time of hire and a strong interest in experimental science as demonstrated by appropriate coursework /grades. Direct laboratory experience is preferred. Interested candidates must be comfortable with performing experiments on mice, as well as working in a lab environment where human embryonic stem cell research is performed. 

This is a restricted position and is contingent upon the continuation of funding.
