Primary Care Interprofessional Leadership Institute (PCILI)

This 1.5 day immersion experience is designed for students interested in Primary Care.
PCILI is open to pre-health students and students enrolled in medical, nursing, pharmacy, physician assistant, dental, public health, and clinical psychology programs. This year’s program will feature lively discussions with primary care practitioners from the different health professions showcasing their real-world experiences in working together in interprofessional teams to deliver effective, coordinated, community-based, patient- centered care. The highlight of the Institute will be a case-based interdisciplinary team challenge and competition: Primary Care Innovation based on community needs assessment. The PCILI agenda includes Primary Care practice, education, and policy, with a particular emphasis on innovative models for Primary Care Delivery (e.g., Patient- Centered Medical Homes, Turntable Health, and Ideal Medical Care Clinics).

AMSA/Columbia Summer Institute in Narrative Medicine

The Program in Narrative Medicine of Columbia University and AMSA are seeking pre-medical students, medical students, and those studying in other health care fields, who want to develop knowledge and skill in Narrative Medicine. This five-day institute will deliver keynote lectures and small-group training in the fundamentals of narrative approaches to clinical care.
- Receive intensive training in close reading, creative writing, and reflective practice;
- Learn from the national leaders in inter-professional and inter-disciplinary education and team-building;
- Hands-on creative projects in language, visual art, performance art, and multi-media;
- Study with Master of Science in Narrative Medicine graduates, students, and faculty;
- Visit New York resources in the arts, music, and theatre.
