AMSA PreMedFest

AMSA PreMedFest
April 11-12, 2015 at the University of Florida,

Conceived of as an "unconference", AMSA PremedFest has taken its inspiration and form from art and music festivals, writers' retreats, and other forms of intentional communities. Rather than producing yet another traditional academic conference for pre-health students, we have created an academic festival: a celebration of the unique and shared experiences of students on their journeys into the (health) caring professions.

AMSA PremedFest will feature programming on four different Stages on
Saturday:
  • Mind - topics and ideas that make you go "hmmm"
  • Body - taking care of others starts with self-care Spirit - joy of caring, health through laughter, connection through stories
  • Community - medical professionalism, empathic communication, patient-centered care
  • Networking, information-sharing, brain-storming, academic consultations, relaxation, games, and demonstrations will take place in The Exchange - the festival hub that spans indoor and outdoor spaces. And on Sunday, the morning will be filled with Professional Skills and Clinical Skills workshops.

We are incredibly proud and excited to be working with some fabulous and inspirational individuals and organizations in the development of the festival: Patch Adams, MD, and the Gesundheit Institute Susan Parenti, DMA, and Melanie Meltzer and the School for Designing a Society, Rebekah Apple from the American Association for Physician Leadership, Bobbi Knickerbocker, MA, MRE, RN, at the UF Academic Advising Center, Gina Moses, MEd at AACOM, the River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding and the National Physicians Alliance just to name a few!
