The annual (HPREP) is now open to students interested in: Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Osteopathic Medicine, Physician Assistant, Public Health, Clinical Research, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing (BSN). The program is designed to prepare students interested in health sciences, for admission into health professions programs. Preference will be given to highly-qualified, underrepresented minority, financially disadvantaged, first generation college, or students interested in serving in under-served communities, but is open to all applicants. The main focus of this program is to educate individuals on health professions career options, standardized test taking strategies, interviewing and application skills, hands-on experience in health sciences labs (anatomy, suturing, PT, etc.), servant leadership, as well as overall professionalism.
The program prepares students for the rigorous professional program admissions process by offering the following:
- Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) preparation (Sponsored by Kaplan)
- Various Health Professions labs (compounding, anatomy, suturing, OB, splinting, etc.)
- Exposure to professionals in various fields of pharmacy, physical therapy, medicine, public health, clinical research, pharmaceutical sciences, and nursing
- Professional Development, Learning Styles, Goal Setting, Cultural Competency, Interviewing, and Competitive Applicant Seminars
- Mentoring opportunities with CPHS and CUSOM faculty, staff and students
- Better understanding of the need and benefits of well-rounded students and professionals
- Exposure to potential shadowing opportunities
- Experiencing and becoming part of the “Campbell Family”
The application deadline for the Campbell University Health Professions Readiness and Enrichment Program (H-PREP) is March 31, 2015. The program will be held May 17-22, 2015 in Buies Creek, North Carolina. The application is free, but accepted students will be asked to pay $50 deposit to reserve their seat! . The program includes housing, meals, workshops (including PCAT, MCAT, and GRE review by Kaplan) airport shuttle - everything except airfare.
Scholarships
Students selected to participate will have the opportunity to apply for various scholarships that will aid in paying the deposit fee ($50), and travel to the event. Further information on scholarships will be sent to students after they have been accepted.
