The Westmoreland Volunteer Corps (WVC) offers five men and women the opportunity to work in direct social, medical and educational services with the disadvantaged through one-year internships with Washington area service agencies.
Areas of placement include: work with at-risk youth, primary medical care for the uninsured, social and legal services for the homeless, maternal/child health care, educational and social support for children and youth, employment and life skills counseling and job search, immigrant and refugee support, promotion of social justice, support and outreach to those suffering domestic violence and sexual abuse.
Requirements: Recent college graduate or equivalent experience. Commitment to simple living and openness to individual growth and exploration of values. Spanish desirable for some placements. U.S citizenship or permanent residency required.
Application period closes and review begins on February 15. Candidates are brought to DC for interviews until five volunteers are placed in agencies.
