After attending a recent Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) webinar, the HPA team learned of the top 5 pitfalls applicants make as they complete or prepare to complete the VMCAS application. Listen up so you can avoid them!
1. Not meeting with a pre-vet / pre-health advisor from early in the undergraduate career to
application.
2. Not reading / following application directions and/or not seeking guidance from VMCAS
(calls / emails).
3. Not thoroughly reviewing / understanding the requirements for each school they apply to.
4. Getting application information from un-official places (i.e. Student Doctor Network,
Admissions Consultants).
5. Not planning ahead (coursework and/or application materials).
