Diversity in Health Care Education and Practice

Presented by the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing, and the Medical Center


The health center shadowing event is an opportunity for area high school students and undergraduates to explore careers in health care, with an emphasis on the impact of diversity and inclusiveness on health care practice and research. U.Va. undergraduates have the opportunity to shadow physicians in the clinic, while high school students are exposed to career and academic options in health care practice and research. 

Schedule 
2-3 p.m.- Panel Discussion (Claude Moore Medical Education Building)
Student Panel on influence and status of underrepresented professionals in Medicine and Nursing.
3-4 p.m.- Clinical Stimulation Learning Center (Claude Moore Education Building)
Clinical Stimulation will involve about 60-80 high school students from area schools.
4-6 p.m.- Speakers (Claude Moore Medical Education Auditorium)
Reception to follow.

There is free parking for this event in the K2 parking lot, at the corner of Brandon Avenue and Valley Road (off of Jefferson Park Avenue).
