Arc of the Piedmont Volunteer Opportunities through Madison House

The following is a message from Inna De Leon, Program Director for the Arc of the Piedmont.

“The Recreational Therapy Department of  Madison House is currently looking for volunteers at their Arc of the Piedmont site for the Spring semester. Anyone is welcome to apply! Students who are interested in health care careers such as rehabilitation therapy, specially physical and occupational therapy, medicine, and nursing are highly encouraged. Medical schools and health care career programs certainly regard recreational therapy as a respected and unique volunteer and clinical experience!

Volunteers at the ARC experience one-on-one, direct patient contact and develop meaningful relationship with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through conversations and participation in recreational activities. This is also a great opportunity to explore the Charlottesville community! Arc of the Piedmont is located near the Downtown Mall and accessible by the CAT Bus 7 and Downtown trolley. Volunteering only requires one hour per week.

One hour of your time can definitely create a huge difference in the lives of the people we support at the Arc of the Piedmont. I, myself, have gotten so much out of volunteering with the ARC in the last three years, and had an awesome experience working with wonderful people!

Please don't hesitate to contact me for more information, and feel free to check out Arc of the Piedmont on their own website or through Madison House.
