VCU Summer Academic Enrichment Program (SAEP)

Virginia Commonwealth University will be offering the Summer Academic Enrichment Program (SAEP) to students who are interested in pursuing a career in dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, or physical therapy this coming summer in Richmond, Virginia. 

Here are the details:

WHAT: SAEP is an inter-professional program designed to simulate the first year of a health profession program. Upon completion of the program, participants will have the tools that will help them assess their strengths and weaknesses in regards to successful application and matriculation into a health professions school.

WHO: SAEP is geared towards junior and senior undergraduate students, and post-baccalaureate students who are actively pursuing enrollment into dental, medical, pharmacy, or physical therapy school. Preference is given to those of a disadvantaged (educational, social, or economic) background.

WHEN: SAEP is a six-week program (May 21, 2014 – July 2, 2014).  Students are required to attend the full program.

WHERE: SAEP will take place on VCU’s MCV campus in Richmond, Virginia. Housing will be provided in Cabaniss Hall.

HOW: Students should apply online at www.dhsd.vcu.edu between November 1, 2013 – February 15, 2014.  In addition to the online application, students are required to submit official college transcripts and two letters of reference.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:

The program is FREE!  Students will receive a stipend!

-Three core courses taught at a professional level

-Discipline specific lab work (dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, or physical therapy)

-Workshops on learning skills, test taking, mock interviews, and more

-Individual coaching sessions with admission faculty

-Great networking opportunity
