Global Medical & Dental Brigades - Pre-Med/Dent Volunteering Opportunity Abroad!

Want to join a growing movement of students dedicated to creating sustainable change in impoverished nations?  Want to provide access to health and dental care for an in-need community?  Would you like to travel to beautiful Central America or Africa for Winter or Spring break?  Join the University of Virginia's Global Medical and Dental Brigades!  You can help bring access to doctors, dentists and health care to in-need communities.  Get hands on experience in the field, shadowing licensed doctors as they consult community on their health needs and prescribe medicines; and also shadowing dentists as they perform fluoride treatments, teeth fillings, and teeth extractions to community members who don’t have access to dental care.  Student volunteers have the opportunity to intake patients, perform triage, and distribute medicines under licensed pharmacists.  Student volunteers also have the opportunity to teach fun preventative dental care workshops to adults and children. For every 1 volunteer, an additional 55 patients are provided access to healthcare and 111 patients are provided with preventative dental treatment! Speaking Spanish is not mandatory and translators will be provided during brigades.
