Tulane University Post- Baccalaureate Master of Biomedical Science Degree

The Hayward Genetics Center at Tulane University offers a 1-year post-baccalaureate Master of Biomedical Science Degree with a concentration in Human Genetics. The program is a multidisciplinary, interdepartmental program combining clinical genetics, biochemical genetics, molecular genetics, population genetics, and cytogenetics. The Master Degree program is designed to give graduates an in-depth understanding of the rapidly advancing field of human genetics and to prepare individuals for careers in the health sciences.

Most of the students that apply are pre-med, and while it varies from year to year, we have found that close to 90% of our graduates who apply to medical school or a school osteopathy have been accepted.

The length of the program is two semesters, starting in the fall followed by the spring semester. The degree is non- thesis: students undertake 30 hours of coursework and write an extensive paper on a subject in the field of Human Genetics. No research is required.

Further information about the Human Genetics Program can be found at the Hayward Genetics Center Website.
