Volunteers Needed: UVA Division of Nephrology Community Kidney Disease Screening

On the Move is a UVA Hospital Division of Nephrology outreach screening for kidney disease.  In collaboration with the National Kidney Foundation and some local businesses and healthcare providers, UVA Nephrology will provide free screening for underserved, low-income residents of Charlottesville and Albemarle.  The target audience is the un- or underinsured population and people who are at increased risk for kidney disease by family history or co-morbidities.  Participants will have their height, weight, BMI, and blood pressure measured.  They will also be asked for urine samples to identify proteinuria.  While they wait, participants can enjoy a healthy snack and learn more about kidney disease, diabetes, nutrition and hypertension by visiting education and information tables.

The goal is to screen 200 participants, identify at risk people, and to facilitate appropriate follow up. UVA Division of Nephrology is looking forward to serving our community.
